Oklahoma’s Erin Swezey Act
Our Attorneys Successfully Challenged Unjust Ignition Interlock Device Requirements
The Erin Swezey Act went into effect in Oklahoma on November 1, 2011, and faced significant changes in 2019. Named for a young woman who was killed by a drunk driver in 2009, this piece of legislation used to impose harsher driver’s license-related punishments for first and subsequent DUI offenders, but its requirements involving the temporary but mandatory installation of ignition interlock devices after a DUI-related license revocation no longer apply.
Even though the Erin Swezey Act is no longer in effect, you still only have very limited time to save your license after a DUI arrest. Our seasoned DUI defense attorneys at Hunsucker Legal Group can help you understand and pursue your options.
