Douglas Baxter
A native Oklahoman, Douglas Baxter is a Senior Associate Attorney with the Hunsucker Legal Group and handles felony and misdemeanor DUI, APC, DWI, and other criminal cases. Mr. Baxter earned undergraduate degrees from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City and Southern Nazarene University and his law degree from the Oklahoma City University School of Law. Mr. Baxter is licensed to practice in Oklahoma and the United States Federal Court in the Western District of Oklahoma.
Prior to joining the Hunsucker Legal Group, Mr. Baxter interned with Judge Lumpkin of the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals. This experience gave him valuable insight into Oklahoma legal proceedings which he puts to use for the benefit of his clients.
Mr. Baxter attends and participates in numerous national and local DUI seminars and has been called upon numerous times to be an on air television news legal expert for DUI related issues. Mr. Baxter is a member of the National College for DUI Defense. Mr. Baxter has attended many of the College’s national seminars including the College’s Trial Skills Summer Session held annually at Harvard Law School, the College’s Winter Session, the College’s “Science as Your Best Defense” Seminar held in Atlanta, GA and NCDD?TCDLA Mastering Scientific Evidence in DUI/DWI Cases in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Baxter has also attended the NCDD/NACDL annual Defending With Ingenuity Seminar held in Las Vegas, NV.
Mr. Baxter is also a member of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association. As a member of this organization, Mr. Baxter has attended the Cindy Foley Criminal Defense Institute seminar. Mr. Baxter has been a frequent speaker at Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association statewide seminars as well as seminars for the Oklahoma Bar Association.
Mr. Baxter is certified in standardized field sobriety testing and breath testing methods, and he has put his knowledge to use in obtaining numerous dismissals and reductions in DUI cases for his clients. Mr. Baxter’s knowledge and training has been instrumental in obtaining outstanding results for his clients. Mr. Baxter has been successful in saving many commercial driver’s licenses from disqualification. Mr. Baxter has been successful in preventing the need for jail time in almost all of the cases he has handled and, in the vast majority of cases, has been able to prevent his clients having a conviction on a criminal background check.
Mr. Baxter has also represented clients in other types of criminal cases and has achieved very satisfactory results in those cases.
