The state of Oklahoma mandates that anyone who has his or her driver’s license suspended or revoked must undergo an alcohol/drug assessment for chemical dependency. Depending on the outcome of the assessment, you will be referred to the appropriate intervention.
An assessment is more or less an interview with a certified alcohol and drug counselor to determine your level of dependency on alcohol or drugs, based on your answer to a series of questions. The results of this test will determine what treatment recommendations the counselor makes for you to address any dependency problem you may have.
An Alcohol and Drug Substance Abuse Course (ADSAC), also known as DUI School, consists of either 10 hours or 24 hours of curriculum addressing the dangers and consequences of alcohol and drug use/abuse in relation to operating a motor vehicle. In Oklahoma, the 10- and 24-hour DUI School is called the Alcohol and Drug Substance Abuse Course, or ADSAC.
If it is determined that you have a serious drug or alcohol dependency issue, you may be required to attend an in-patient treatment with mandatory aftercare.
